I normally get the Lemon Pepper wings and a variety of the other wings. I pay the difference on the combo and substitute Onion Rings for fries. The Gyro is really good and the Big Bakers are superb whether with or without chicken, lamb, broccoli or any of the other favorites. The staff is friendly and most orders come out in a timely manner. We are proud and excited about our Purple Onion in Hueytown. My family members are repeat costumers and will continue to be for a long time. Purple Onions don't make me CRY!!!
We stopped by here spur of the moment to try it. They need help. One lady was working the front and taking food to tables and cleaning up. They have a help wanted sign. The dining area seems old and outdated. The table was a bit sticky. We had never eaten at a Purple Onion before. I ordered a club pita and it was pretty good. Nothing special and not good enough to go back for. The tabbouleh (salad) was EXCELLENT to me. But it was my first time ever trying that. I want to go all the way back just to get that stuff!! It's so good and I can see where next time I go past any purple onion I will stop if only for the tabbouleh!!!
First time visiting this location. Appeared clean and was nice and quiet. My order was taken in a professional courteous manner. I ordered breaded wings and fries with celery sticks and ranch dressing on the side. The wings were fried a little too hard and were a little salty but good. The fries were heavily seasoned as well. They had a full menu with delicious looking deserts at the counter. I would go back and try other menu items.
The food was pretty good. Definitely try the gyro traditional. Loved the fries. They were crispy and well seasoned. Nice place to eat and hang out to watch a game or two.
Years ago I was introduced to what I think was the original Purple Onion location in Birmingham. I don't know why we haven't stop at them when we have traveled, but today we were traveling a little different location and saw this one in Hueytown. It looks like a typical chain restaurant. The menu is really huge, but the food was out of the park. We have a picky child who loved their Greek chicken, and rice. We ordered the hummus and to gyro plates.
